The Case of the Coffee Creamer Dilemma

Chef Coffee CupS.O.S! I am need of some major HELP!  I know I’m technically supposed to be the expert here, being that I’m the personal chef, but I’m really in need of your help here.  I have been so utterly miserable with my coffee in the morning that – brace yourselves, coffee lovers – I haven’t even been drinking coffee on the reg.  I know, I know, it’s a total travesty.  How can I be a coffee lover if I’m not even drinking it?  I long for the mornings when I would wake up and feel excited to sip on a delicious cup of hot coffee.

So, you’re probably wondering what exactly is the problem?  Well, it’s the creamer.  I’ve become addicted to a sugar-free, non-dairy coffee creamer.  While this may initially sound healthy, it’s not.  Yes, it is low in calories, and of course, has ZERO sugars…but that just means it is FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.  And it bothers me that I am consuming such a fake, unhealthy food.  And how’s this for contradictory?  First, I put organic stevia in my coffee, and then stir in some “corn syrup solids, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil, sodium caseinate, natural and artificial flavor, sucralose, and about ten other ingredients that make me sound like a just-learning-to-read-first-grader when I pronounce them.  Yeah, I am totally horrified and ashamed that I drink this non-food so often.

All that being said, I have yet to find a real, wholesome alternative to my fake food obsession.  Isn’t it strange that it’s 2017, but yet we (ok, I) still haven’t found a HEALTHY and REAL way to enjoy my coffee?!?

This is where you guys come in.  I would love to hear how you all enjoy your cup of joe each morning.  Please comment below any ideas/solutions you may have for me!!  I can’t wait to hear from you!  🙂

I drink bulletproof coffee. It sounds a little gross but give it a try. You add 1-2 tbsp MCT/liquid coconut oil and 1-2 tbsp of grass-fed butter to your coffee. The butter and oil are very healthy, and if you shake it or blend it the result is delicious. Play around with the amounts; I usually use 1 tbsp of each. Let me know what you think if you try it!

Thx for “recipe” Stacey! I have experimented with bulletproof coffee in the past, definitely something I need to revisit! I have a client who added raw honey and cinnamon to her coffee in place of creamer, the sky is the limit I guess! Lol

I was using a flavored creamer with all those yucky ingredients – I’ve switched to using almond milk, with just a splash of dairy milk for creaminess…not quite the same, but close enough to “kick the habit”! 🙂

Sounds like a great alternative to yucky flavored creamers. I was educated by my holistic doctor that another alternative is to use heavy cream, it is good to have a little fat to slow down the caffeine hitting your system all at once, PLUS it is lactose free. Happy coffee drinking!
