Heaven Gained a Chef

Posted & filed under Family & Friends.

I come from a long line of good cooks, well no, fantastic cooks is more like it!  My grandmother, Gloria, was known to be one of the best – she could turn “nothing” into “something”…something everyone would rave about and ask for time and time again! Unfortunately, my grandmother passed well before I had time to make any cooking memories with her. Luckily for me though, she left me with my two aunts, her sisters, to provide me with lots of culinary inspiration.

Aunt LynnThat inspiration came especially from my grandmother’s youngest sister, Lynn, my dear Aunt Lynn – whenever I saw her, we would discuss food and recipes (and dancing, Aunt Lynn liked to dance just as I do!).  I have even featured some of my Aunt’s recipe in the past, check the links at the bottom of this post to create them yourself! It saddens me to say that my Aunt Lynn, who not only was a fellow foodie, but who also helped fill the void of not having my own grandmother around growing up, has suddenly passed away….just weeks before I was supposed to visit for lunch and taste some of her cooking.

Aunt Lynn was a strong, strong woman, who beat cancer not only once, but twice, always had a sun-shiney smile on her face and optimism in her spirit. Aunt Lynn adored her children and her own granddaughters with a love like no other, yet she still left a little for me and my siblings making us all feel very special and adored as well. As shocked and sad as all our family is, I know that Grammie, my grandmom, is super excited, because she is reunited with her sister, and that Heaven and all the Angels are ecstatic because they have gained a dancing chef!

You will be missed, loved, and never forgotten Aunt Lynn!
