Anyone who has been following me for some time now, probably knows that I have a bit of a sweet tooth, especially for ice cream!! I recently had a new discovery: I realized that I am no longer a child but an adult LOL. I can make my own decisions. So, I decided that it is OK to have dessert for dinner. And not dinner THEN dessert. Not a sandwich and THEN dessert. There was going to be no dinner preceding my sweet of choice. Dessert was going to BE dinner.
When I made this decision, I have never felt more bad-ass, more in-charge and liberated in my entire life. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a pretty straight-laced, play-by-the-books type girl. My taxes are filed a month early each year, I pay my bills as soon as they come in, and I’m always kind to children and animals. 🙂
Having dessert for dinner makes me feel like a full-blown law-breaker, without the consequences! The worst thing that is going to happen is that I will have a hard-core sugar crash. I know this is not “healthy” and I know my parents would not allow this when I was a child, but as I said, I am not a child anymore and this is my decision!
Anyway, I have had dessert for dinner on more than a few occasions now, and I have not regretted it anytime I have! I have from time to time gone all out, full on cray cray and had real ice cream for dinner, or bread pudding with whipped cream. As a personal chef though, I have quite a few tricks up my chef coat sleeve so that my “dessert” is actually a rather healthy choice. You do not have to be a whiz in the kitchen to create healthy sweet treats. Yogurt/berries/mini chocolate chip bowls, banana “ice-cream” and oatmeal with nuts/coconut/chocolate are just a few dessert-like eats that you can have as your dinner, that will provide protein and nutrients.
