Review of Grandma’s Birthday Dinner

Posted & filed under Personal Chef, Recent Happenings.

I’m so pleased to have another guest blogger, Instagram star Danielle @diningcondanielle.  Here’s what she had to say about a birthday dinner we recently catered for her family:

My name is Danielle and I run the Instagram Food Blog @DiningConDanielle, so I am extremely passionate about all things food. My whole family is very into food, so family get-togethers always involve many restaurant visits. For my grandmother’s 80th birthday celebration in Philadelphia, we decided to mix it up and hire a private chef instead of going out to a restaurant to create a more personalized experience. Hiring Eat your Heart out Edibles was an amazing experience, with personalized touches for my grandmother, excellent food, very pleasant and friendly staff, and an overall memorable night.

With my experience in the food industry, I know that cooking for 15 guests ranging in age from 15 to 85 can be extremely challenging, but Angela and her team executed the dinner flawlessly. Ahead of time, my mom and I worked with Angela to create a menu that we knew my grandma would love. This was easier said than done, because all of the options Angela gave us sounded delicious so it was hard to choose!

When the night of the party finally arrived, Angela and her assistant arrived to our house a few hours early to do the preparation. It was great because my family was able to relax and enjoy our time, without having to worry about any preparation. Plus, Angela and her assistant were lovely to be around, so it was very comfortable to have them in our home.

Mini Crab CakesTo start off the delicious meal, Angela made 3 appetizers: mini crab cakes, asparagus wrapped in puff pastry, and bruschetta with tomatoes and garlic. All 3 were amazing! My favorite was the bite sized crab cakes, which were so flavorful and came with a delicious dipping sauce. Bruschetta and Asparagus

My 3 younger boy cousins (age 15-21) hate asparagus, but LOVED the asparagus wrapped in puff pastry, which really says something about Angela’s cooking! The bruschetta was also a huge hit and we couldn’t get enough of it!

After the appetizers, my family and I played an intense game of Catch Phrase while Angela cooked the main dish: lamb chops with a honey balsamic sauce. One of the things I loved about this dinner was that everything was cooked freshly at our house, rather than cooked ahead of time and just reheated. It shows the care that Angela takes in preparing her food.

Balsamic Lamb Chops

We were all excited for the main course because my entire family has quite a lamb chop addiction and these did not disappoint! These were some of the best lamb chops I’ve ever had, with the sweet honey balsamic glaze that was so complementary to the meat, without being overpowering. On the side, we enjoyed some fluffy garlic mashed potatoes and zucchini and tomato boats stuffed with veggies.

Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend Eat your Heart Out Edibles. Not only was the food top notch and packed with flavor, but Angela was so great to work with and have at the special dinner. I wish I lived in Philadelphia and could have Angela help out with dinner parties more often! Thanks for the delicious, memorable meal, Eat your Heart Out Edibles!
