Recipe of the week: BEST Basic Brownies

Posted & filed under Recipes.

Score some major brownie points with friends and family by whipping up a batch of homemade brownies! I can’t believe people are still using boxed mixes, and once you see how simple and tasty this recipe is, with common household ingredients, I am certain you will become a “made-from-scratch” brownie baker!

Don’t take my word for it, I made these brownies a few years back for my SUPER picky-eater nephew Danny’s birthday, and he has requested “Annie’s brownies” ever since, claiming they are the best…he is so cute, one time I even overheard him gushing about how his aunt makes the best brownies….OK proud aunt moment over LOL.

Oh and be sure to add your own spin to the standard recipe below, with add- ins such as mini chocolate chips, walnuts, peanut butter chips etc.

The BEST basic brownies!Best Basic Brownies

1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 sticks melted unsalted butter

1/2 tsp. salt

3 eggs

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup white flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.

In a large bowl combine the sugar, melted butter and salt.

Whisk in 3 eggs, 1 at a time. Stir in cocoa powder and flour.  Incorporate any special “add ins” at this point.

Transfer the batter to the baking pan and bake until just set, 25-30 minutes; let cool before cutting.

Enjoy!

Give these a try – and let me know what you think!
